Accessible UI/UX Web Design
- Lead accessible UI and UX web design across digital products, platforms, and marketing channels.
- Define inclusive interaction patterns, layout systems, colour usage, typography, and information architecture that meet accessibility standards without compromising usability or visual quality.
- Ensure accessibility is embedded at the design stage rather than retrofitted during development.
- Collaborate closely with designers to review wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs for accessibility compliance and inclusive user experience.
Accessibility Ownership and Governance
- Ensure all web content, applications, and interfaces are accessible by default and compliant with recognised accessibility standards, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
- Establish, maintain, and evolve accessibility design and development standards, guidelines, and documentation.
- Act as a subject-matter expert and internal authority on digital accessibility across UI/UX design and front-end development.
Platform and Product Leadership
- Own and shape the UI/UX vision for accessibility-focused digital platforms and tools.
- Embed accessibility throughout the product lifecycle, from user research and design through development, testing, and release.
- Balance accessibility, usability, performance, and visual clarity to deliver inclusive, high-quality user experiences.
Development and Technical Excellence
- Design and implement accessible UI components and front-end patterns using modern web technologies.
- Review and guide front-end implementation to ensure accessible designs are accurately translated into code.
- Maintain and contribute to accessible design systems and component libraries that align design and development practices.
Client Advisory and Consulting
- Advise clients on best practices for accessible UI/UX design and front-end implementation.
- Support clients in designing accessible user journeys, components, and interactions from the outset.
- Translate accessibility requirements into clear, practical design and engineering recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in accessible UI/UX web design and front-end development.
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of WCAG and inclusive design principles.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience designing accessible layouts, interactions, and component systems.
- Ability to evaluate accessibility across both design artefacts and live digital interfaces.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working cross-functionally with designers, developers, and stakeholders.
