Business Development Manager

The Role

  • Proactively explore new opportunities, identify new potential customers, partnerships and market segments and support their development to generate additional sales.
  • Adopt a process of continuous market research and analysis, identify emerging trends, explore customer needs and develop potential future business opportunities.
  • Employ recognized sales strategies to identify and convert new customers, expand the company’s existing market reach and drive increased sales and profitability
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors and industry partners, enhance the company’s presence and generate additional growth opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain our CRM database to provide an information platform for future business development
  • Work proactively with all internal teams including engineering and sales and marketing in order to create and identify attractive and cost-effective solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Attend industry events, conferences and trade shows worldwide to represent and promote the company and identify new business opportunities.
  • Sales are predominately to an international market with over 90% of the sales being exported
  • Regularly report on the progress of business development activities, sales metrics and market trends to senior management.
  • Provide sales forecasts and budgets reports to senior management as required and be part of the overall business planning process.
  • Ensure that all quotations to customers are followed through to closure and assist with developing the process of multi-channel inbound enquiries & queries by phone, website, email and social media.

Your Profile

  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales or a related role within the Engineering or Manufacturing industry (Technical knowledge would be a distinct advantage).
  • Proven track record of working with technical products and B2B customers.
  • Experience of working with and managing a globally diverse distributor network.
  • Able to clearly identify, develop and implement both new and recognized successful business strategies.
  • Excellent communicator with negotiation and interpersonal skills to understand customers’ needs and offer effective solutions.
  • Confident self-starter with high commercial acumen and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Available to travel for approximately 50% of the time, within Ireland and globally, as the business requires.
  • Proficient in the use of CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to design, develop and present professional proposals and presentations to existing and potential customers.
  • Ability to manage virtual and in person sales meetings.
