About the Company
Our client is the exclusive distributor in Ireland for a world-leading manufacturer of premium tools that help chemists enhance productivity, efficiency, and safety in the laboratory. With a strong presence across the pharmaceutical, academic, and industrial sectors, the company continues to experience sustained year-on-year growth.
They are now seeking a highly motivated Product Specialist to join their sales team and play a key role in expanding their market-leading brand throughout Ireland. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious professional to develop a rewarding career in scientific instrumentation sales.
The Role
As a Product Specialist, you will manage and grow sales of chemical synthesis instrumentation across pharmaceutical, academic, and industrial research environments. You will take a consultative, solution-based approach meeting customers, advising them on applications, providing demonstrations, converting opportunities, and offering ongoing technical support.
This role is ideal for someone who combines technical understanding with strong commercial acumen and excellent interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve and exceed annual sales targets for both existing and new business in line with company strategy
- Identify, develop, and close sales opportunities through proactive prospecting and follow-up activity
- Accurately manage and report weekly, monthly, and quarterly forecasts using Salesforce CRM
- Promote and sell the chemistry and reaction systems portfolio into pharmaceutical and academic research sectors
- Promote and sell the particle characterisation product portfolio into pharmaceutical, industrial, food & beverage, and academic markets
- Actively manage leads through the full sales cycle, leveraging Salesforce, manufacturer leads, calls, emails, and meetings
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, providing a high level of technical and commercial support
- Contribute to sales and marketing initiatives to support brand and business growth
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge through ongoing product and application training
- Follow company policies, procedures, and CRM best practices
About You
You are intelligent, articulate, sociable, and tenacious someone who enjoys connecting with customers and thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
You will bring:
- Proven track record in lead generation, business development, and exceeding sales targets
- Excellent customer service orientation with strong communication and presentation skills
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a small, agile team
- Experience working in the life science market or a related technical field
- A positive attitude and genuine enthusiasm for science and technology
Qualifications & Experience
- BA/BSc/MSc or PhD in Chemical Science (or closely related discipline) – essential
- 2+ years’ experience in a technical sales or business development role – preferred
- Full, clean driving licence – required
