Job description

As a Territory Sales Representative, you will be responsible for driving sales growth across an assigned geographic region by developing strong customer relationships, expanding existing accounts, and identifying new business opportunities. Working closely with retail, trade, and contractor customers, you will act as a trusted commercial partner, ensuring excellent customer service while delivering against sales targets and business objectives.

This is a field-based role requiring regular customer engagement, proactive territory management, and a results-driven approach to account development.

Key Responsibilities

Territory & Business Development

  • Manage and grow sales within an assigned geographic territory.
  • Develop and execute a structured territory plan to maximise customer coverage and sales opportunities.
  • Identify, target, and secure new customer accounts while strengthening existing relationships.
  • Proactively seek out new business opportunities across both established and emerging markets.
  • Deliver sustainable sales growth in line with monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets.
  • Maintain a healthy pipeline of prospects and development opportunities.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with retail, trade, and contractor customers.
  • Understand customer needs and provide tailored product and commercial solutions.
  • Monitor account performance and identify opportunities to increase share of wallet and product penetration.
  • Support the retention, development, and growth of key customer accounts.
  • Resolve customer queries and complaints efficiently, ensuring a positive customer experience.

Sales & Order Management

  • Generate sales through regular customer visits, meetings, and telephone engagement.
  • Accurately process customer orders in collaboration with the internal sales support team.
  • Ensure all pricing, product specifications, and order details are correct and clearly communicated.
  • Follow up on quotations, outstanding orders, and customer requirements to maximise conversion and customer satisfaction.

Product & Market Development

  • Promote company products and solutions, highlighting key benefits and new developments.
  • Support the successful introduction of new products within your customer base.
  • Gather and communicate market intelligence, including customer feedback, industry trends, and competitor activity.
  • Identify changing market demands and emerging sales opportunities within the territory.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with internal departments including Sales Support, Customer Service, and Warehouse Operations.
  • Coordinate order fulfilment activities to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Share customer insights and market feedback to support business planning and product development.
  • Act as an effective ambassador for the company, maintaining professional standards in all interactions.

Performance & Reporting

  • Track and manage sales activity through CRM systems and KPI reporting tools.
  • Monitor territory performance against agreed objectives and sales targets.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer activity, opportunities, and account developments.
  • Provide regular sales forecasts and territory updates to management.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a field sales, territory sales, business development, or account management role.
  • Strong relationship-building and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve and exceed sales targets.
  • Commercially aware with strong negotiation and influencing abilities.
  • Excellent organisational and territory planning skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full clean driving licence.

Travel Requirements

  • Regular travel throughout the assigned territory is an essential part of the role.
  • Flexibility to undertake occasional overnight stays when required for customer meetings, exhibitions, training programmes, or business development activities.
  • Represent the company professionally at all times when meeting customers and attending industry events.

Territory: Cavan, Offaly, Westmeath, Longford, Leitrim, Roscommon, Clare, Galway, Mayo, Sligo
