About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a VMI Driver to join our Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) Team. This permanent role is responsible for supporting our VMI Key Account Managers in the efficient management of key customer accounts, ensuring stock is delivered, replenished, monitored, and maintained to the highest standards.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining excellent customer service, ensuring product availability, and supporting inventory management processes across customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

Deliveries & Customer Support

  • Complete scheduled deliveries to Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) customer locations.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers.
  • Ensure deliveries are completed safely, accurately, and on time.

Stock Management

  • Replenish stock into designated storage and bin locations.
  • Deliver products directly to laboratory environments where required, including refrigerated items.
  • Monitor product shelf life and report products approaching expiry dates.
  • Maintain accurate stock levels and inventory records.

Inventory Monitoring

  • Conduct regular weekly stock counts on selected product ranges.
  • Carry out full monthly stock counts across customer accounts.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of key inventory items and customer requirements.
  • Identify and escalate potential stock issues before they impact service levels.

Account & Project Support

  • Support VMI Key Account Managers in the day-to-day management of customer accounts.
  • Participate in projects and initiatives as directed by the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Assist in identifying and implementing cost-saving opportunities for customers.
  • Undertake additional duties related to the VMI function as assigned by the VMI Key Account Manager or Commercial Director.

About You

You are a proactive, reliable, and customer-focused individual with strong organisational skills and a keen eye for detail. You are comfortable working independently while managing multiple priorities and maintaining high standards of accuracy.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience in a distribution, logistics, warehouse, or stock management environment.
  • Understanding of inventory management principles and common stock-related challenges.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.

Desirable Requirements

  • HazChem Licence.
  • C Licence
  • Experience working within a Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) environment.
  • Previous customer-facing delivery experience.
